OTHER INFO
I'm a general dogs person for the group, filling in in most eras as a Sgt at Arms, Flemish Crossbowman and sometimes a seriously beaten
up English archer. I much prefer doing the narration for parts of the shows and getting the public really involved in the history bit. I have no
ambitions whatsoever to get close enough to the opposition to wield a sword preferring
to despatch folk at a distance either by bolt or bill.
Despite having an un-disguisable English accent, I happily wear a Saltire. As I always put it 'the Scots pay more... at the moment'
However I do get a little type cast when an English representative is called
for so I normally take the cop out and play a suitably ambiguous mercenary. Last season was
hardwork for the group as we expanded our show to cover even more periods. I now feel more at home in the 1450's, but still not quite
sure about the 'baggies' I'm asked to wear for the Rough Wooing. Its good to be able to swap roles characters and now periods and still be with this
group.
The only thing I can reply to why I joined is that really I want to get the
clearest idea what it must have been like for a man to stand in the ranks of
any army knowing that he would have to fight for his life and try to work
out what motivated them to do this.
